857 Desks Installed On National Mall to Call Attention to Drop Out Rates

Each desk represents one of the 857 students who drop out of high school in the United States every single hour, every single school day, according to the College Board.

An installation of 857 empty school desks, representing the number of students nationwide who are dropping out every hour of every school day, is on display at the National Mall June 20, 2012 in Washington, DC.
